Broker strengthens property insurance position with its first acquisition JMG

JMG Group business Astute Insurance Solutions has completed its acquisition of property specialist Sandhouse Insurance. The completion marks a significant milestone in Astute’s strategic growth initiatives.

Led by Ian Mahony, Astute has established itself as a trusted insurance broker providing a range of services for commercial and corporate clients across Northamptonshire and the UK. The acquisition, which further strengthens its advice-led service proposition, is Astute’s first purchase since it became part of the JMG Group in 2022.

Mark Weedon, Sandhouse MD, joins the Astute team. With 45 years in the industry and over 30 years specialising in property insurance, Mark brings invaluable expertise to Astute’s team of 12 based in Northampton. His extensive experience as a property investor complements his professional career, allowing him a deep understanding of risk management techniques to help his clients mitigate risks associated with property ownership.

Mark Weedon says: “Apart from a name change to Astute Insurance Solutions, it will be business as usual for our clients. This deal allows us to scale our offering with access to additional industry expertise and enhanced placement options through JMG Group. I am excited for the next chapter.”

Ian Mahony adds: “We are extremely pleased that Mark chose to become part of the Astute business. His skills and experience in the property market will enrich our business and broaden the range of services we offer. We’re all looking forward to building on the already strong foundations and delivering an even higher level of service for clients.”

JMG Group CEO, Nick Houghton, emphasises the strategic significance of Sandhouse Insurance’s integration into Astute Insurance Solutions. He says: “Sandhouse is a perfect fit into an already high-quality advice-led business looking after corporate clients. Sandhouse’s specialism in the property

sector is an area we are looking to grow further, and Mark’s capability in this area will support our ambitions.”
