Scotland-based GS Group has announced an exciting internal restructure, just as it marks its first anniversary since becoming part of the JMG Group.

The restructure sees the firm promote five long standing team members to form a new executive board – allowing GS Group’s founder and existing MD George Stubbs to step up to executive chairman to focus on business development and acquisitions. Sean Fleming will pick up the MDs reins working closely with the JMG Group team.

Further internal promotions include former senior client director, Peter Robertson, who becomes group commercial director; Kirsty Mackie joins the executive board as part of the continued growth of her role as group operations director; Gordon Taylor has been promoted to group placement director; and group legal and regulatory director, Siobhan Fogarty, joins the new executive board.

As group MD, Sean now has overall responsibility for the strategic direction of the business, which will involve developing its vibrant team and pursuing acquisitive growth. Sean, who has worked at GS Group for seven years and was an existing board member, says, “This is a significant step forward for the business and demonstrates our commitment to developing staff from within as well as investing in new opportunities. We are a dynamic and innovative business with a team that is passionate about delivering outstanding service for our clients. It’s a powerful combination and one which will propel our future growth.”

George Stubbs says, “As part of the transition to JMG Group it was always my wish that the long-term future of GS Group should be placed in the hands of the existing management team, which is exactly what this restructure represents. My new role will allow me to support the executive board as well as help with our continued growth. I am delighted that JMG is fully behind this transition as was set out almost one year ago. I am confident our strong team and structure will help take our business to the next level.”

Says Nick Houghton, “One of the great privileges of what we are doing across our growing group is creating succession opportunities for talented people and supporting them in their development. To support George and create opportunities for the existing team is an ideal outcome for us all, and I’m looking forward to working closely with Sean and the team as we continue to grow GS Group.”

Established in 1991 from a standing start by former group MD George Stubbs, GS Group prides itself on delivering the best value for clients across the UK whilst providing a personal approach to business, personal lines and risk management insurance services.
