Leeds-based Lighthouse Risk Services is celebrating a period of strong growth as it welcomes new colleagues and expands it services across the UK.
The firm, which became part of the JMG Group in 2023, welcomes experienced Health & Safety consultant Jamie Douglas to its team and is currently recruiting for more roles to meet growing demand. Its presence in Scotland is also increasing, with Michael Gallagher joining the business there this month.
Over the past year, Lighthouse has made two key acquisitions with the support of JMG Group. Last summer, it bought ISO management system specialist HSEQ Smart, followed in March by TSE Solutions, which provides tailored risk management services. These acquisitions have widened Lighthouse’ offering, helping more clients with health and safety management and ISO accreditation.
A big driver for the company’s growth continues to be its accreditation under the BAFE SP205 Safety Fire Risk Assessment Scheme, which it achieved in 2020.
Gwyn Evans, commercial director at Lighthouse, says; “There has been a shift in how fire risk assessments are viewed and regulators are looking more closely than ever. This has become even more important in the wake of the Grenfell tragedy, as fire safety standards face closer scrutiny. Having external verification of our competency in the subject matter via industry accreditations gives clients confidence in our expertise and has played a part in our growth. We estimate 30-40% of our growth over the last 2-3 years links back to this.
“2024 was a positive year for us, with revenue up by 15%, and 2025 is shaping up to be even better. With our team growing and new clients coming on board, we’re excited about what’s ahead.”
Lighthouse’s Yeadon office is home to eight colleagues and includes a large training space where monthly first aid and IOSH courses are held. A further 19 PAYE consultants, work remotely across the UK.
Established in 2007, Lighthouse specialises in helping UK employers manage their health and safety and employment law obligations. Its services include auditing, preparation of key documentation and training services. In addition, Lighthouse can act as ‘Competent Person’ for safety clients in accordance with UK regulatory requirements. Employment law advice is delivered by qualified solicitors and regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority.
